Walter Reed Army Medical Center for Care and Service Transformation
July 2008, Fred accepted a DA/HQE Senior
Civilian role attached to Walter Reed Army Medical Center for Care
and Service Transformation. Utilizing his nearly forty years of
experience in the hospitality industry, Fred is bringing about
positive change in Soldier-Family Care and Service at WRAMC and
across the AMEDD.
Between 1988 and 2008, Fred held diverse
leadership roles with the Walt Disney Company, Theme Parks and
Resorts. He participated in projects related to the launch of more
than a dozen of Disney’s Resort Hotels, Disney Studios Florida,
Disney’s Animal Kingdom, Disney’s Vacation Club, Disney Institute
and Disney Cruise Line. Prior to Disney, Fred held hospitality
related positions with the Bass Family of Ft. Worth, Texas and
Marriott Corporation.
Since 1991, Fred has created, led or
participated in numerous projects in support of our Armed Forces and
Military Families. June 2007 Fred contributed to the President’s
Commission on Care for the American Wounded Warrior, a background
report dealing with TBI treatment. January 2008, Fred provided
staff for ADM Mike Mullen CJCS, background for testimony before
Congress on the current state of community based care for our
transitioning warriors.
December 2007 Fred created the first of its
kind “Career Transition Orientation” for medically retired Soldiers,
affiliated with the Army’s AW2 program. This program has carried
forward with Disney and the local VA Office, Orlando, FL

Fred has been recognized a leader in the Hospitality
Industry by the American Hotel and Motel Association since October
1995.

June 2000 Secretary of State, Colin Powell and Disney
Chairman, Michael Eisner; on behalf of Points of Light Foundation
recognized Fred for his leadership in community service and
volunteerism.

The President’s Committee on Volunteerism has
recognized Fred annually since 2000 for his community involvement.
·
April 2005 Awarded the Florida Commendation Medal, for
service in support of the Florida National Guard, their warriors and
families.
·
May 2006 GEN Cody VCSA recognized Fred for his service
to injured soldiers.
·
March 2006 the United States Secret Service recognized
Fred for his work in support of their mission to protect the
President of the United States and the GWOT.
·
April 2006 Received the Emmy for Best Daytime Special
of 2005 “Salute to the Troops Live from Walt Disney World.”
·
May 2007 the West Point Society and Sunshine Chapter
AUSA recognized Fred for his efforts to champion the needs of our
Wounded Warriors.

July 2007 the Florida National Guard Officers and
Enlisted Association presented Fred with their BG Whitaker
Citizenship Award.
Fred and his wife Claire have a home just
outside Orlando at Oviedo, Florida. They have three sons, Matthew,
Zachary and Kevin.
