Cheryl Strickland was elected to the office of
the Clerk of the Circuit Court in 1996, after having worked in the office for 13
years. She received Supreme Court certification in 1999 after completing 240
hours of training, and continues to maintain this certification every year with
continued education. She was appointed as a member to the Florida State Supreme
Court Committee on Court Records.
In 1983, she became employed at the Clerk’s
office as a criminal court clerk. In 1988, she became Chief Deputy to the Clerk
Bud Markel and served in that capacity until his retirement. The experience of
serving as Chief Deputy gave her an opportunity to learn the overall workings of
the Clerk’s Office, and this experience was key to being elected in 1996 to
replace Mr. Markel. Cheryl completed an Associates of Arts degree in Business
Administration from St. Johns River Community College.
Cheryl has served as Clerk for 13 years and has
been responsible to continue to move the office forward thru enhanced technology
in all areas of the Clerk’s Office. Budget reductions and increased workloads
continue to be a challenge to continue to ensure proper access to the courts for
our citizens, but we are committed to serving our citizens quickly and
efficiently.

my faith in Jesus Christ our Savior that I have been able to experience true
serenity the rewards I received in life by simply praying, "Thy will be
